Strong qualifying performance with fifth on the grid at DTM Oschersleben

For Ben Dörr, the Oschersleben event marked the next round of his third DTM season. The 21-year-old McLaren Junior competed as usual for Team Dörr Motorsport behind the wheel of the #25 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. Dörr showed his potential on the track right in the first qualifying session, securing an excellent fifth place on the grid.

Setback in race one despite top-5 grid position

The Dörr Motorsport driver started the weekend’s first race from the third row of the grid. However, after the race, the McLaren Junior was classified in 20th place, 39 laps behind winner Thomas Preining (Manthey), resulting in zero points for the first run. Second place on the podium went to Luca Engstler (Red Bull Team ABT), followed by Maro Engel (Mercedes-AMG Team RAVENOL) in third position.

Second race outside the point-scoring positions

Dörr finished the second qualifying session in 16th position. From this grid spot, he started the second race on the track in Oschersleben. At the end of the race distance, the 21-year-old crossed the finish line in 16th place, 22.369 seconds behind the winner, remaining without points once again. The victory in race two went to Mirko Bortolotti (TGI Team by GRT), with Maro Engel taking second and Thomas Preining finishing third.

Current situation in the DTM championship

In the DTM championship standings following the event in Oschersleben, Ben Dörr holds eighth place overall with 76 points. Maro Engel leads the standings with 145 points, ahead of Nicki Thiim with 124 points and Lucas Auer with 123 points.
