Excellent Starting Positions in Qualifying
In his third DTM season, 21-year-old McLaren Junior Ben Dörr once again demonstrated his driving skills. For the Dörr Motorsport team, he piloted the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo with car number 25 on the demanding Norisring track. Dörr set a clear statement in the timed practice sessions. In Qualifying 1 for Group A, the young talent secured a brilliant starting position with second place (P2). He impressively confirmed this strong result in Qualifying 2 for Group A the following day, when he finished the session again in an excellent second place (P2).
Double Points Finish in Both Races
In the first race of the weekend, Dörr converted his good starting position into a tangible result. At the end of the race, he crossed the finish line in tenth place (P10). With a gap of 17.355 seconds to the winner Nicki Thiim, the Dörr Motorsport driver secured six valuable championship points. The podium of the first race was completed by Maro Engel in second place and Arjun Maini in third. On Sunday, Dörr showed consistency once again on the tight track. In the second race, he crossed the finish line in 13th place (P13). With a gap of 24.231 seconds to the repeat winner Nicki Thiim, the McLaren Junior collected three more points. Second and third places on the podium in this second race went to Finn Wiebelhaus and Lucas Auer.
Strong Position in the Championship
The consistent point yields are reflected in the current DTM championship standings: following the races at the Norisring, Ben Dörr occupies an excellent sixth place in the overall standings with 76 points. The top 3 of the championship are led by Nicki Thiim with 117 points, followed by Maro Engel (108 points) and Lucas Auer (106 points).
